Quick Answer

Looking for the Metal Detector? Follow the night Cabin/Shed route, solve the fossil-and-rope interaction, then use the detector on Beach and Cinema searches. Looking for the Wrench? The current community route says to give the flower to the worker near the entrance bench, pick up the dropped Wrench, then use it on the Water Cooler to advance toward the Core Key. The Wrench route remains replay pending. The other item lines are Fish Paper → Lost Key and Cheese → CHESHIRE.

Lost Key or Core Key? Choose the Right Route

The two key searches belong to different handoffs. Use the Fish Paper and fish checklist for the Lost Key; use the Wrench and Water Cooler checks for the Core Key. The Wrench-to-Core trigger remains replay pending, so do not treat a missing key as proof that one route replaces the other.

Missing Eyes, Hands, or Mouth: Exact Route

These three recovery routes are separate area objectives. The practical order is Hands → Mouth → Eyes, but the order is flexible.

  1. Hands: enter Misery Town from the north and follow the shifting-wall maze to its end. If the walls have shifted, re-check the nearest junction instead of repeating the old path. The route sources place Hands at the end of this maze.
  2. Mouth: take the west Office route and enter LET ME GO first. Return later and enter LET ME TALK to complete the Mouth step; these phrases are sequential, not substitutes.
  3. Eyes: take the south route into Timesville, enter the bear house, and continue toward the graveyard. When the staircase turns black, reverse direction, watch the scene, and follow the ghost footprints to the relevant grave or hole for the Eyes.
  4. After all three: return to the Office/Core progression. Do not assume fishing, Catthew's hide-and-seek, or every side activity is required just to recover the body parts.

Evidence state: Source-backed and community cross-checked; current-build replay and route screenshots are still pending. Cross-checks: detailed senses route, independent walkthrough, and player route report.

Eyes, Hands, and Mouth: Route Summary

For the body-part recovery route, use the central area as the hub: go north to Misery Town for Hands, west to Office for Mouth, and south to Timesville for Eyes. The recommended order from the current community route is Hands → Mouth → Eyes. Restoring Hands first makes later item interactions easier.

Evidence state: Community-converged route summary; keep the exact recovery triggers separate from the area directions until a current-build replay is captured.

Lost Items After Completing an Area: Is There a Lost and Found?

There is no confirmed in-game Lost and Found menu. The strongest repeated player signal is that items gathered in an area can leave the active inventory once that area is solved or locked for the next chapter. That looks alarming, but it does not automatically mean the normal route is permanently softlocked.

  1. Check the inventory page and the pickup action. Scroll through every inventory page. For vending-machine rewards, make sure the item was actually taken from the machine's Push door; one recent inventory report ended with this being the likely misunderstanding, not a reproduced UI fix.
  2. Protect secret-route items before closing an area. If you are pursuing Ending C, finish the three Chapter 1 secrets before completing their areas. Community reports agree that area items can disappear after completion, while normal endings may not require every cross-area item.
  3. For a missing PGD, repeat the beach scan in order. After Nibbles' Blackmail dialogue, search the shoreline again with the Metal Detector. The independent walkthrough lists Camera, then Fishing Paper, then PGD, with the PGD at the far western edge of the beach.
  4. If death interrupted the pickup, recheck the last state. A player report says the PGD may need to be searched again after dying to the crab, but this recovery behavior is not independently reproduced yet. Record the chapter, area, death point, and detector result before restarting.
  5. Do not restart immediately. If the next objective still works, continue the route and keep a backup save before testing a suspected softlock. If the route specifically needs the missing item, load the pre-area-completion save first.

Evidence state: area-item loss and the "finish secrets before closing areas" precaution are community-converged across multiple threads. The PGD search order is independently documented by a walkthrough and aligns with the community route. The inventory UI, post-death PGD recovery, and any universal re-spawn rule remain needs-verification.

High-Intent Questions Still Needing Proof

These question patterns appeared in the Similarweb Google/global 28-day report viewed August 11, 2026. The estimates are directional rather than absolute search volume. No answer is published here until a second source or a reproducible test confirms it.

Metal Detector Route: How to Get It and What to Check

  1. Open the Shed route. Public guides describe the fossil/bone-order and rope interaction before the Metal Detector becomes available.
  2. Use it on beach clues. Neoseeker notes the Metal Detector is used on the beach to find Fishing Paper.
  3. Use it for Misery Town cinema searches. The buried remote / cinema map route depends on knowing where to search.
  4. Do not assume one use is the only use. Player reports show the Metal Detector causes confusion because it has multiple route uses.

Broken Phone: Optional Secret-Boss Lead

The Broken Phone is now appearing in question-style SERP and community searches, but the public evidence is still player-reported. Current reports connect the route to a night Telescope constellation and a Metal Detector search; another player report says the phone is consumed to trigger an optional secret boss. Treat this as a lead, not a fully verified universal route.

  1. Set the correct night state. Use the Telescope in the relevant Timesville location and complete the constellation interaction rather than only opening the Telescope.
  2. Search with the Metal Detector. Sweep the beach or the reported follow-up area after the constellation has registered.
  3. Keep a backup save. Do not spend the phone until the optional secret-boss route is your goal.

Evidence state: Community report cross-check from the Broken Phone / Camera discussion and the hidden-constellation discussion; exact trigger timing and boss route remain replay-pending.

Player-Reported Key / Wrench Blocker

A recent Reddit help thread describes a common Office blocker after the player waters the flower and increases productivity. Treat this as a player-reported route note until the site has its own screenshots.

  1. Do not keep hunting for a loose key immediately. If you already have the flower route active, the missing step may be social rather than a hidden pickup.
  2. Give the flower to the guy stuck in the bench near the entrance. The reported reward is a dropped wrench.
  3. Pick up the wrench. Add it to your route notes before changing areas.
  4. Use the wrench on the watercooler. This should move the Office item chain forward toward the later Core checks.

Current Inventory Problems

Items disappeared or the vending inventory will not scroll? Treat this as a recovery check, not an automatic softlock. Recent player reports say an item may no longer be retrievable after an area is solved, but they also report that normal routes can continue. First confirm Steam is on version 1.08, leave the current interaction, reopen the inventory, and check every page before changing chapters. The exact disappearing-item and vending-page behavior remains community report / replay pending.

  • Scroll the inventory page. Vending rewards may be on a later inventory page rather than missing from the save.
  • Recheck the area state. Return after the scene finishes and inspect the original pickup location once more.
  • Keep a backup. Copy the save before spending a unique item or forcing a chapter transition.
  • Record the evidence. Note the item, chapter, build number, input device, and whether the item returns after death or reload.
